A woman in her 30s has died after being struck by a bus at a notoriously perilous crossroads in Nottingham city centre. Emergency units raced to Lower Parliament Street around 6.05am on Tuesday morning upon receiving notice of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian.

Despite immediate treatment at the scene, the woman succumbed to her injuries shortly after, as confirmed by Nottinghamshire Police, clarifying that the casualty was in her 30s. An extensive police barricade is established from Milton Street to Glasshouse Street for investigation purposes, disrupting the flow of traffic for an extended period.

Motorists have been urged to steer clear of the area, where forensic teams have been spotted meticulously examining the site, coupled with a strong police presence and restrictive cordons. The spot has sparked an outpouring of sympathy online, with many stressing its hazardous nature.

"That stretch of road is a nightmare. Vehicles, deliveroos all coming from different angles," lamented one social media user.

Chief Inspector Dean Gallacher spoke of the incident: "This was a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened. The road will remain closed for some time as investigation work is carried out and we advise drivers to avoid the area until further notice.", reports the Mirror.

A representative of Nottingham Travelwise issued a statement: "Lower Parliament Street is CLOSED between Glasshouse Street and Milton Street. Emergency services are on scene dealing with an ongoing incident. Please avoid the area and look to use alternative routes where possible until further notice."
