Israel launches massive strikes against Hezbollah in Beirut

Powerful explosions rocked Beirut suburbs as Israel expanded its campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The militant group’s potential new leader has been out of contact, say security sources. DW has the latest.

The Israeli military struck Beirut overnight and into this morning after the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for several neighborhoods in the area.

An Israeli strike also hit a mosque near the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the town of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, killing at least 18 people.

The strikes on both fronts come as Hamas' deadly raid in southern Israel and the war in Gaza approaches the one-year mark.
