Nottingham's largest bus operator has issued travel advice for its passengers as it warns of "severe delays" due to a crash in the city centre. A huge police cordon is in place in Lower Parliament Street on Tuesday (October 22) morning, stretching between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street.

The collision is believed to have involved a double-decker bus and a pedestrian. Dozens of police cars remain at the scene, with several side streets sealed off by officers.

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said there are "severe delays" to its services due to the incident, resulting in several temporary stop changes. In an update on its website, NCT said the closure affected its Green 5-11, Lilac 24-27 and Orange 34 services.

Diversions will also affect those using the Blue 39-42, Red 43 and 44, Navy 49, Red 50 and Turquoise 77-79 services. A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "Lower Parliament Street in Nottingham city centre has been closed between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street after a serious road traffic collision.

"It will remain closed for some time and drivers are advised to avoid the area. Thank you." Traffic website Inrix states: "A6008 Lower Parliament Street in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident, a bus involved from Upper Parliament Street to A60 King Edward Street."
