Susanna Reid forced to step in after Martin Lewis swears during explosive GMB interview

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid was forced to step in after money saving expert Martin Lewis swore during an interview with Lisa Nandy about the Winter Fuel Payment cut

Susanna Reid had to step in and remind Martin Lewis to keep his cool after the financial journalist became visibly angered during a live TV segment on Good Morning Britain. The incident occurred as Lewis was questioning the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Lisa Nandy, about the controversial cut to the Winter Fuel Payment, a move that has left many people outraged, potentially impacting a number of pensioners this winter.

Martin Lewis, aged 52, was insistent on seeking clarity from Nandy on whether the government plans to make these crucial payments means-tested. In the heat of the exchange, he momentarily lost his temper and let slip a swear word on air, an action for which he immediately issued an apology.

The moment caused quite a stir on social media platforms such as Twitter. Amongst the flurry of tweets was one user's commendation: "Well done Martin that's the most interesting informative interview I've seen on gmb in years she was clueless and unprepared as expected".

This sentiment was echoed by another viewer who applauded Lewis: "Martin Lewis absolutely schooling Lisa Nandy on #GMB. She doesn't accept that removing the winter fuel allowance from our poorest pensioners was a huge misstep. Oh how we have missed our journalists holding politicians feet to the fire. Well done Martin."

One viewer chimed in: "Martin Lewis just tore Lisa nandy apart", while another remarked: "Lisa nandy getting ripped apart by Martin Lewis.", reports the Mirror.

Another TV enthusiast pleaded for Martin to become a more regular fixture on the breakfast show, saying: "Can we have Martin Lewis as the male anchor @GMB. Please? The most versatile, informed, funny, interesting of the other two. Thanks."

This follows Susanna Reid welcoming the money-saving expert back to Good Morning Britain this Wednesday, after he co-hosted the show with Ed Balls earlier in the week. As she introduced the show, Susanna expressed: "Martin, it's wonderful to have you back in the studio! " Grinning at his co-star, he announced: "It's wallet Wednesday."

The GMB host informed viewers that Martin was on the show for an important reason - to help people with their energy bills.

Despite having been on the programme only two weeks prior, the energy price cap has now risen by 10%. Martin responded: "I wasn't quite sure we'd be doing this but there's a lot that's changed."

During the broadcast, the money-saving expert assisted three viewers live on air who came into the studio.
