No question of forming Govt with BJP: Farooq Abdullah - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 5: National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah Saturday ruled out any question of forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Talking to reporters here, he said his party had already clarified that there would be no post-poll alliance with the BJP.

“The votes NC got were against BJP. So, there is no question of allying with the BJP,” Abdullah, a three-time chief minister, said.

He alleged that the BJP was not treating minorities in the country well and added that those who support the BJP would politically lose ground.

Abdullah also welcomed the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Islamabad for the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Council of Heads of Government on October 15 and 16.

He expressed optimism regarding Jaishankar’s upcoming visit to Islamabad for the SCO meeting, expressing hope that this visit could pave the way for improved relations between India and Pakistan.

Abdullah welcomed this development, saying, “I am hopeful that they will engage in constructive dialogue on various issues. Economic concerns are crucial not just for us, but for the entire world. I am confident that they will also address bilateral matters. I anticipate a friendly exchange that will foster a deeper understanding between the two nations. My best wishes go out to all involved.”

Expressing his hopes for the meeting, he emphasised the importance of initiating a positive shift in relations between the two countries.

“I remain hopeful. The outcome of the meeting is uncertain, but I pray that any existing animosities will dissipate, leading to a more harmonious relationship between India and Pakistan,” Abdullah said.
