Omar Abdullah Retains Ganderbal Assembly Seat, Resigns from Budgam Segment - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 21: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah has retained the Ganderbal Assembly seat and resigned from the Budgam Assembly segment, reports said Monday.

The announcement was made by Speaker Pro-Tem, Mubarak Gul, during oath ceremony in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Assembly.

   

Omar Abdullah’s decision to step down from Budgam comes after his victory in both constituencies in the recently concluded Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

The announcement was made as part of the proceedings during the oath-taking ceremony, where 90 newly elected MLAs were sworn into the J&K UT Assembly.

Speaker Pro-Tem Mubarak Gul presided over the swearing-in ceremony for the legislators.

The MLAs pledged their commitment to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir, vowing to uphold the Constitution and work towards the region’s peace, stability, and development, news agency KNS reported.
