Ganderbal, Nov 7: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday said that by passing the resolution demanding the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, a clear message had been sent across the world that the decisions taken on August 5, 2019, were not acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“During the elections, I kept saying that we have to raise our voices with the help of the assembly. We have to send a message that whatever happened to us on August 5, 2019, is not acceptable to us. It happened without our permission, will, or consultation,” the CM said addressing a public gathering at Paribal Sherpathri Ganderbal after the foundation stone laying function of the Paribal-Takanwari Bridge over Nallah Sindh.

In his first public speech in Ganderbal after assuming the office of the Chief Minister, Abdullah said that some people had started taunting them saying, “We have forgotten and betrayed. However, we are not those who betray. We are the people who know the law. We know how things are done via assembly.”

“We wanted to raise our voice through the assembly which cannot be neglected by the Centre. We could have brought a resolution on the first day that they would have thrown in the trash. We wanted to force them to speak to us.  We passed the resolution and told the world what we wanted and what we will achieve,” he said.
