Multiple cases filed against BJP MLA Muniratna, 6 others

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Wednesday in Ramanagara district against BJP MLA Muniratna Naidu and six others, accusing them of rape, blackmail, and harassment. A 40-year-old complainant alleged that Muniratna repeatedly assaulted her and used threats to keep her silent. The complaint also implicates Vijay Kumar, Sudhakar, Kiran Kumar, Lohit Gowda, Manjunath, and Loki, who are accused of aiding in the crimes or facilitating the assaults.

Responding to this complaint of sexual assault and blackmail against Muniratna, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwar issued a statement affirming that the matter would be handled with due legal process. “A complaint has been filed, and legal action will be taken based on the complaint. If public servants are found involved in such acts, action will be taken according to the law,” he said.

The police officials at the Kaggalipura station have begun an investigation. The case has been registered under IPC Sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354C (voyeurism), 376 (sexual assault and rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insults), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 149 (unlawful assembly), 384 (extortion), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide).
