The proposed KWIN city (Karnataka’s New Landmark for Knowledge, Wellbeing, and Innovation), is set to significantly boost infrastructure development in north west Bengaluru in and around Nelamangala, Dabaspet and Doddaballapur. Strategically located between Dabaspet and Doddaballapur, this sprawling 5,800-acre city aims to redefine the region’s growth trajectory through innovation and sustainability.

Devaraj Gowda, a relator said, “KWIN city’s prime location is one of its most attractive features. Situated just 45 minutes from Bengaluru airport and a mere 5 kilometres from the Bengaluru-Pune Greenfield Expressway, it is poised to facilitate seamless access to major transportation hubs. The planned intra and inter-transport systems will alleviate congestion, enhance mobility, and provide efficient connectivity through key routes like the Bangalore-Hubli-Mumbai Express rail line and National Highways 44 and 648.”

KWIN city is envisioned as a dynamic centre for knowledge, health, innovation, and research. By integrating these sectors, the city aims to bolster Karnataka’s reputation as a global leader in technology and education.

One of the standout features of KWIN city is its commitment to sustainability. The development plans include a solar farm covering 465 acres, which will generate approximately 0.69 million MWh of energy—enough to meet the city’s entire energy requirements. Additionally, KWIN city will incorporate an advanced rainwater harvesting system to fulfill 50% of its water needs, supplemented by borewell water for an additional 20%. This self-sufficient approach to energy and water management not only supports environmental sustainability but also sets a precedent for future urban developments.

Sandal farms new opportunity for investments

Firstly, sandalwood is a highly sought-after commodity, known for its aromatic properties and significant demand in the fragrance, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries. Secondly, sandalwood trees have a slow growth rate but can yield high returns. Also it requires low maintenance.
