Food inspector to be appointed to inspect quality of Mahaprasad in Puri Shreemandira, watch

Puri: For quality control, Food inspectors will be appointed in Shreemandira, the famous Lord Jagannath temple in Puri of Odisha. It was informed by Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.

As per reports, steps will be taken to keep the quality of Mahaprasad intact, the famous offering of Lord Jagannath in Puri. And for this Food Inspectors will be appointed, said Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Friday.

Discussions have been completed with the health department in this regard for the appointment of food inspectors.

The Law Minister also said that along with Abadha (Mahaprasad), the quality of the ghee used for Mahaprasad will also be inspected.

Adulterated ghee is not being used in the temple, he stressed. However, the administration of the temple has been asked to carry out further tests to ascertain the quality of the ghee, he said.

All this comes in the wake of the incident of the use of adulterated ghee in the famous Tirupati temple. A few reports said recently that the Tirupati Balaji prasad ladoo is believed to contain animal fat and fish oil, lab reports confirmed the same.
