Heap of soil on rail tracks, loco pilot’s timely action prevents potential accident

Uttar Pradesh: A major rail accident was narrowly avoided  yesterday when a vigilant loco pilot spotted a heap of soil on the railway tracks and stopped the train just in time. The incident occurred near Raghuraj Singh station on Sunday.

The passenger train was stopped temporarily after the driver noticed a mound of dirt on the railway tracks. He immediately informed the police about it. The police and railway track maintenance department authorities quickly responded to the matter and rushed to the scene.

A small pile of soil was dumped on the railway track because of which a shuttle train from Raibareli was stopped. The heap of soil was removed from and the track was cleaned by the authorities. Trains have started running again after the cleaning, officer Devendra Bhadoria stated.

The police conducted an investigation procedure with local residents to gather more information about the incident. The locals said that road construction is underway in the area. Due to which they use dumpers to transport soil at night. On Sunday evening, a dumper driver carrying soil dumped the load onto the railway track and fled.

An investigation is underway to find out how and by whom the soil ended up on the tracks. Railway authorities have also requested to avoid this kind of act to prevent similar incidents in the future.
