The mother of the 23-year-old man who died after his bike had a head-on collision with an SUV in Gurugram questioned the swift bail secured by the accused, calling it a failure on the part of law. In an exclusive interview with India Today, an inconsolable Rekha Garg questioned how the accused, who was driving the SUV on the wrong side of Golf Course Road on DLF 2, was let off immediately.

"The accused was let off quickly. Why does such a law exist so that they get bail immediately? How can someone kill a person and get bail? This is a failure on the part of the law in our country," Garg said.

Visuals captured on a GoPro camera worn by the victim's biker friend showed the Mahindra 3XO SUV being recklessly driven on the wrong side at high speed, leading to the fatal collision. The SUV also had a BJP sticker on its bonnet.

The SUV driver, 25-year-old Kuldeep Kumar Thakur, was arrested and then let off on bail.

Rekha Garg said her only demand was to ensure justice for her son and sought strict punishment for the accused. "Police said it is a bailable offence and that's why the accused was granted bail. We would never have let him off," she said.

"We don't want to do politics over the issue. Today, the incident happened with my son. Tomorrow, someone else might be a victim. That is why the accused should be given a strict punishment," she further said.

In the video, the victim, Akshat Garg, is seen taking a right turn before colliding with the SUV. The impact flung Garg above the car, and his motorcycle was mangled beyond recognition.

Following the collision, locals alerted emergency services. Garg was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
