Actor Nagarjuna posted a note on social media slamming Telangana minister Konda Surekha's comments on Samantha and Naga Chaitanya's divorce. Surekha alleged that BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) played a role in Samantha and Chaitanya's divorce.
The Congress leader accused KTR of interfering in the personal lives of celebrities and being involved in drug-related controversies.
Surekha further claimed that several actresses have had to leave the industry prematurely due to KTR’s influence. "Many heroines have married quickly and exited the cinema field because of KTR’s impact on their lives," she said while addressing reporters at an event on October 2.
In no uncertain terms, Nagarjuna reacted to Surekha's statement. He condemned her on social media and asked her to withdraw her comments.
His note, translated from Telugu to English, reads, "I strongly condemn the comments of the honorable minister Mrs Konda Surekha. Don't use the lives of movie stars who stay away from politics to criticise your opponents. Please respect other people's privacy. As a woman in a responsible position, your comments and accusations against our family are completely irrelevant and false. I request you to withdraw your comments immediately."
The Congress leader also levelled accusations regarding drug abuse and coercion: "KTR took drugs, got people habituated, and organised rave parties. He played with their lives and used these situations to blackmail them. Everyone knows this," she claimed.
