An Air India flight travelling from Delhi to Chicago was diverted to Canada's Iqaluit airport following a bomb threat on Tuesday. The flight, which was en route to the United States, was forced to make an emergency landing after authorities were alerted about the potential threat, an airline official confirmed the incident.

“Air India flight AI127 operating from Delhi to Chicago on October 15 was the subject of a security threat posted online and as a precautionary measure, has landed at Canada's Iqaluit airport,” a statement by Air India read.

The statement by the airline added that the aircraft and passengers are being re-screened as per the laid down security protocol.

“Air India has activated agencies at the airport to assist the passengers until such time that their journey can resume,” it added.

The development comes a day after two IndiGo flights departing from Mumbai received bomb threats. Flight 6E 1275, en route to Muscat, and flight 6E 56, headed for Jeddah, both received bomb threats on Monday.
