Former BJP MP from Mumbai, Poonam Mahajan, has expressed suspicions of a conspiracy behind the death of her father and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, stating that she intends to write to both the Union and state Home Ministers, urging them to initiate an enquiry.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Poonam Mahajan suggested that the shootout that led to her father’s death may have been driven by ulterior motives.

She revealed that, at the time of the incident in 2006, she was not in a position to voice her doubts, but has always harboured suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his death. Now that her party is in power at both the Centre and the state, she recalled the incident and confirmed that she will address letters to Amit Shah and Devendra Fadnavis, requesting a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth.

Pramod Mahajan was shot dead by his brother, Pravin Mahajan, on April 22, 2006, at his Worli residence in Mumbai, following a dispute. Pravin fired four shots before surrendering to the police and was sentenced to life imprisonment on October 30, 2007.

Earlier in 2022, Poonam Mahajan had hinted that there might have been a mastermind behind her father's murder, suggesting that the case involved more than just a family dispute and needed further investigation.
