Former Haryana Minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav made a U-turn, stating that he is a "Congressman by birth" and will remain so "till his last breath." His remark came two days after he had quit the Congress party.

In a series of posts on X, the 65-year-old leader said that he has dedicated 38 years to serve the Congress and has given his best to the party. He also mentioned that his family has maintained an "association of more than 70 years" with the Nehru-Gandhi family.

"I worked with my leader late Rajiv Gandhi ji and Sonia Gandhi and cannot forget their affection towards me. I am congressman by birth and will remain congressman till my last breath," said Yadav.

He expressed disappointment that his contributions to the Other Backward Classes department had not been acknowledged by the high command, and that some harsh remarks prompted his initial decision to resign.

"I was upset that my hard work done for the OBC department was not being appreciated by high command and some harsh words made me to take this drastic step but with a cool mind I have decided to strengthen the congress party, especially my mentor and leader Sonia Gandhi," he said in another post.

A former minister resigned from the party on Thursday, citing poor treatment following Sonia Gandhi's departure as party president.

Recently, Yadav had suggested that the party should introspect on the reasons behind its electoral failures in southern Haryana, especially in Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendragarh, and Faridabad, where it managed to win only one seat compared to the ten secured by the BJP.
