India is supporting Israel not Palestine to appease US imperialism: Kerala Chief Minister

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accused the central government of supporting Israel, and not Palestine, in the ongoing war in the Middle East to appease American imperialism. He also alleged that Israel and the people in power at Centre were twins, known as Zionists and Sangh Parivar.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accused the Union government of supporting Israel, instead of Palestine, just to appease American imperialism.

The Chief Minister said that Israel and the people holding power in our country are twin siblings. “One’s name is Zionists and the other is Sangh Parivaar. There is no difference between these two,” he said.

Pinarayi Vijayan made these comments on Sunday, while inaugurating the CH Kanaram commemoration public meeting in Kannur.

Since the Israel-Hamas war broke out in October 2023, the Kerala Chief Minister has repeatedly condemned Israel’s actions. In his speech on Sunday, he also criticised the central government for choosing neutrality on the issue.

“Most countries in the UN have asked Israel to stop this and withdraw from this. Only a few countries like the United States of America are opposing it. Where are we? Where is our country India with a great history? Neutrality. We are refraining from taking part in the voting. We are not with Palestine. We are not in the group that is asking to stop the attack on Palestine. The meaning of it is - We are standing on the other side.”

Vijayan alleged that while many countries, like Italy, decided to stop supplying weapons to Israel, India still hasn’t. “We are the country that does weapon business with Israel the most. India has become the land that makes weapons that Israel wants,” the Chief Minister said.

Pinarayi Vijayan reiterated that what’s happening in Palestine is not a war but a genocide. “It can be called war only when the other side also has enough weapons. It’s a one-sided attack. Israel has come out to destroy. They are using all weapons,” he said.
