A day after an alleged attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday named two BJP youth wing leaders for orchestrating it.

Addressing the press on Saturday, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said two people, Rohit Sehrawat and Arun Dhall, who allegedly attacked Kejriwal were part of BJP's youth wing organisation -- Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).

"They (BJP) tried to kill Arvind Kejriwal. If any untoward incident happens to him, BJP will be responsible for it," Singh said.

According to AAP, during a padyatra (foot march) in Delhi's Vikaspuri on October 25, people affiliated with the BJP attacked Arvind Kejriwal, who is under a Z-plus security cover.

"In its politics of hatred, enmity and violence, the BJP has gone so far that it is ready to kill Arvind Kejriwal. This is not the first attempt to end the reign of AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. BJP has done everything to make Kejriwal suffer," Singh said during a press statement.

POLICE PROTECTING ACCUSED: SANJAY SINGH

In his press statement, Sanjay Singh also accused the Delhi Police of protecting the accused who allegedly attacked Kejriwal.

"Amit Shah’s police are hand in glove in this attack. If any attack happens in the presence of the police, it becomes the responsibility of the police to act on it. How did this security lapse happen?" Sanjay Singh counter-questioned when asked why no case was filed after the attack.

Delhi Police, which is responsible for law and order in the national capital, comes under the Union Home Ministry.

According to a Delhi Police official, they haven't received any official complaint from the AAP yet after the incident.

The officer said it was a narrow lane of around half a kilometre where the padyatra was organised.

"Some sloganeering against the AAP happened but no evidence of manhandling or attempt to assault has been found as of now," the official said.
