A Delhi man was shocked to find a live centipede in his meal at an Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) VIP Executive Lounge.

Aaraynsh Singh, who was dining at the lounge, saw the creature floating in his raita and didn’t waste time taking the issue public.

In a post on X, Singh shared the picture of the centipede floating in his meal as he flagged the issue.

Sarcastically reacting to claims that Indian Railways’ food quality had improved, Singh tweeted, “Yes, for sure, Indian Railway food quality has improved, now they are serving raita with more protein.”

He went on to detail how he had been dining at one of the VIP lounges run by the IRCTC when he found the centipede: “This incident happened in one of the IRCTC VIP Executive Lounges, so you can imagine the quality in regular trains or pantry cars.”

According to his posts, after the horrifying incident, Singh warned fellow passengers to avoid the food. Surprisingly, despite the revelation, most of them went back to eating.

“People are crazy. I found a live insect in the food served at one of the IRCTC lounges. I stood up and told everyone to check their food. Everyone came to see it, got angry at the administration about the unhygienic conditions, and then went back to eating the same food,” Singh said.

In response, IRCTC quickly replied to Singh’s post and assured to investigate the issue. Their official X handle said, “Sir, inconvenience regretted. Kindly share receipt/booking details, station name along with mobile no for immediate action.”

The post triggered a discussion among social media users, with several expressing their concerns about poor hygiene standards.
