Encounter breaks out between security forces and terrorists in J&K's Baramulla

The Indian troops challenged the terrorists after observing suspicious activity in the area. The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the troops and an encounter ensued.

An encounter has broken out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said on Thursday.

"Acting on a specific input regarding the presence of terrorists in Panipora Sopore area of Baramulla, a joint anti-terrorist operation was launched by police and security forces. During the search operation, an exchange of fire took place," Kashmir Zone Police posted on social media.

The Army also said that after observing suspicious activity, the troops challenged the terrorists, who opened fire on them. The Army retaliated effectively.

"On 07 Nov 24, based on specific intelligence regarding presence of terrorists, a joint Operation launched by the #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice in Panipura, Sopore, #Baramulla. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. Own troops effectively retaliated. Operation is in progress," Army's Chinar Corps said on X.
