Udhayanidhi appointed Deputy Chief Minister to enhance governance: MK Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday heaped praise on his son and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his performance as a Sports Minister.

A day after Udhayanidhi Stalin assumed office as Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister, Chief Minister MK Stalin praised his son's performance as Sports Minister on Monday, and stated that he was appointed as Deputy Chief Minister to enhance governance.

"Udhayanidhi has captured the attention of not only India but the entire world through his role as Sports Minister," said the Chief Minister.

He further emphasised that Udhayanidhi was appointed Deputy Chief Minister to enhance governance, not as a means of supporting his father. "He should work even harder than before to serve the people of Tamil Nadu," added Stalin.

The Chief Minister highlighted Udhayanidhi's achievements in the Sports Ministry, noting that Tamil Nadu athletes are excelling, setting a path towards the Olympics.

Udhayanidhi is also actively involved in reviewing and ensuring the success of the state's special government schemes, said Stalin.

As the DMK Youth Wing Secretary, Udhayanidhi has attracted and nurtured young talents in the Dravidian ideology, CM Stalin added. He urged Udhayanidhi to continue working in alignment with the needs of the Tamil people and the sentiments of DMK cadres.

Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday officially assumed the role of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister. Besides the existing Sports Ministry, Udhayanidhi has also been allotted the portfolio of Planning and Development.
