The Kolkata Police has arrested three people for allegedly molesting school girls inside a hostel in the city. The minors were molested multiple times allegedly by the hostel warden's husband and a teacher.

The incident happened at the hostel of St Stephen's School in Kolkata's Haridevpur area when the parents of the students came to meet them on Sunday. When the girls narrated their ordeal, the parents filed a police complaint.

According to sources, the hostel warden got married a few days ago. Since then, her husband frequently visited the hostel and stayed overnight with her. These visits occurred allegedly without the knowledge or permission of the hostel authorities, they said.

One of the guardians of the students said, "This is a clear violation of the rules in any girl's hostel. No man is allowed to stay overnight without proper authorisation from the authorities."

It is further alleged that a few days ago, the warden’s husband first sexually assaulted one student and later went on to sexually abuse three more students at the hostel.

The police arrested the hostel warden, one teacher of St Stephen's school and another person involved with the authority. However, the warden’s husband is on the run.

A Kolkata police officer told India Today TV that a private English teacher, Biswanath Sil, and another individual, Sovon Mondal, who were associated with the organisation, had also sexually assaulted the students. "Upon receiving the complaint, we immediately registered a case under section 10/17 of Pocso Act and 74/54, 64/62 of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS)."

“The victims were examined in the presence of senior lady officers. The child welfare committee was also contacted by the police and they ordered them to hand over the victims to their parents. The girls have been sent home with police escort," a police source told India Today TV.

Police were questioning more people involved with the hostel authority and an investigation into the matter was on.
