CRPF jawan injured in encounter with terrorists in J&K's Srinagar

One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was injured after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Sunday morning (November 2) in Srinagar's Khanyar area, Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on intelligence about the presence of terrorists, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with CRPF personnel, launched a cordon-and-search operation in the residential area.

Officials reported that the operation escalated into an encounter when the terrorists opened fire on the search team, prompting retaliatory action from the forces.

Two loud blasts were heard amid the crossfire. The security forces are maintaining a tight cordon around the area to prevent any escape attempt.

Two to three Lashkar militants, including a top non-local commander, are reportedly trapped as a joint operation by the police and CRPF continues in the Khanyar area to flush them out, with intermittent exchanges of gunfire ongoing.

This comes four days after three terrorists were killed in a gunfight after they opened fire on an Army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor sector on October 28. Security forces also seized arms and ammunition from the area.
