A Delhi Police constable died in a hit-and-run accident in the city's Nangloi area after he was hit by a car he tried to stop for speeding. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday and the victim has been identified as Sandeep, who was deployed at the Nangloi Police Station.

According to information, Sandeep, dressed in plain clothes, was on duty to investigate the reason for a sharp spike in the number of robbery cases in the area.

He was on his bike when he noticed a WagonR vehicle being driven recklessly, and pointed out to the driver to slow down.

Suddenly, the vehicle that was overtaking sped up and hit Sandeep from behind, dragging him for about 10 metres before eventually hitting another parked car.

Sandeep was rushed to Sonia Hospital and later shifted to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar, where he was declared dead due to severe injuries to his.

Addressing the media, DCP Jimmy Chiram said the police have formed teams to arrest two accused people who fled from the accident spot after the incident.

"They have been identified, and the car has been recovered. Prima facie, the case seems to be of road rage, investigation is going on."
