Kumar Mangalam Birla pays tribute to Ratan Tata: Lost true visionary

Ratan Tata, the veteran industrialist and former chairman of Tata Group, died on Wednesday at the age of 86. He died at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after being treated for a prolonged illness.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, the Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, expressed his sorrow and paid tribute to Tata, highlighting the long-standing relationship between their families and the impact Ratan Tata had on the nation.

In his tribute, Kumar Mangalam Birla spoke about the close ties his family has had with the Tata Group over the years.

He said, "Over the decades, generations of my family and I have had close ties with the institution of Tata. Ratan Tata epitomised the finest ideals of the storied Tata Group. Through his career and actions, he unfailingly demonstrated that business, at its best, is both a vehicle for economic strength and a catalyst for societal progress."

Kumar Mangalam Birla noted that Ratan Tata's influence extended beyond business.

"His decisions have impacted lives and industries far beyond financial metrics. His legacy will inspire future generations of Indians to pursue success with integrity. India and India Inc have lost a true visionary," he added.

Many prominent figures in Indian business echoed Kumar Mangalam Birla's sentiments. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, shared his grief, saying, "The passing of Ratan Tata has filled me with immense grief as I lost a dear friend. Tata took India to the world and brought the best to the country."

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, described Ratan Tata as more than just a leader. "For the Tata Group, Mr. Tata was more than a chairperson. To me, he was a mentor, guide, and friend. He inspired by example. He never stopped dreaming big, yet remained deeply committed to giving back."

Gautam Adani, the founder of the Adani Group, referred to Ratan Tata as "a giant, a visionary who redefined modern India's path" and stated that "legends like him never fade away."

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, also paid his respects, saying, "He leaves an extraordinary business and philanthropic legacy and was instrumental in mentoring and developing the modern business leadership in India."

Ratan Tata’s contributions to the Tata Group and the nation have been immense. He is remembered for his vision and commitment to social causes, which have greatly influenced India’s development over the years.
