Orile-Iganmu, Lagos state - A video showing the frightening moment a two-storey building collapsed in Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos has surfaced on the internet.

Legit.ng learnt that the incident occurred at about 8 am on Monday, October 14.

An eyewitness filmed the scary moment the building went down as people scampered for safety amid panic. The video, which is currently trending on X (formerly Twitter), was shared by Daily Trust.

Meanwhile, according to emergency personnel, everyone who was inside the building had left before it collapsed.

A statement by Nosa Okunbor, head of public affairs unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), reads:

"The agency’s LRT alongside, LASG FIRE, LASBCA and Nigeria Police Force are responders at the scene with a recommendation of evacuation of the site to avert secondary incidents.
"Further assessment has been conducted at the scene on the adjoining two-storey building which reveals that the building is distressed and inhabitable for occupants.
"All occupants have been evacuated from the building."

Lagos: Fatality in Mushin building collapse

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a child was feared dead when a building collapsed at 10 Cameroon Street in Mushin, Lagos.

Seven other residents were also reportedly rescued.

A resident said the building collapsed following heavy downpours in many parts of Lagos.
