One dead in crash west of Christchurch

A person has died and two others have been critically hurt in a crash in Kirwee, west of Christchurch.

The two-vehicle crash happened on West Coast Road, between Hoskyns and Bealey roads, at about 9.30pm on Thursday.

The serious crash unit had examined the scene and was investigating the cause.

The road has reopened.
