Delhi News Live Updates: A Delhi court Friday granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in a 4.8 crore money laundering case. He is likely to be released later in the evening, with all AAP leaders expected to receive him, party leader Manish Sisodia said. Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in May, 2022, based on an FIR by the Central Investigation Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act. In the FIR, which was lodged by the CBI in 2017, the AAP leader was accused of having laundered money through four companies allegedly linked to him.

Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is ‘poor’ across the Capital, and ‘very poor’ at 13 locations, news agency PTI quoted Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai as saying on Friday. He said that different local sources of pollution had been identified at these 13 hotspots. Coordination committees have been formed to act against the local sources of pollution at each of these hotspots and 80 anti-smog guns have been deployed to check dust in the air, Rai said. This comes after the Air Quality Early Warning System of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) issued a forecast stating that air quality is likely to remain in the ‘poor’ category (AQI between 200 and 300) until Saturday. It is expected to worsen to the ‘very poor’ category (between 300 and 400) on Sunday.

2 killed in fire in Farsh Bazar: At least two people lost their lives, and four were injured in a fire incident at a residential complex in Bholanath Nagar, Farsh Bazar, Delhi, on Friday. The deceased appear to have died from asphyxia, police said.

After a Delhi court granted bail to AAP leader Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal said that the former Delhi minister's "only fault was that he built mohalla clinics and made all treatment free for all the people of Delhi". "Satyendra Jain also got bail after spending more than two years in jail. What was his fault? Several raids were conducted at his place. Not even a single penny was recovered," Kejriwal said in a post on X.

"Modi ji put him in jail for closing down mohalla clinics and stopping free treatment for the poor. But God is with us. Today he too has been released," Kejriwal added.

Commenting on the deteriorating air quality in Delhi, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, "The Delhi government is working to reduce the pollution sources under its winter action plan. According to weather scientists, the weather is now turning unfavourable. Wind speed and temperature are decreasing. The Delhi government is promptly working to reduce the pollution sources. We are hopeful that with the help of people of Delhi, we will move forward to lessen the impact (of pollution)."

At least two people lost their lives and four were injured in a fire incident at a residential complex in Bholanath Nagar, Farsh Bazar, Delhi on Friday. The deceased appear to have died from asphyxia , police said. As many as six fire tenders reached the spot immediately and doused the fire.
