Delhi News Live Today: Chief Minister Atishi has called for a press conference at 1:15 pm to discuss the drop in air-quality on Tuesday. Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai will also be present . The air quality index (AQI) in certain parts of Delhi have dipped to ‘severe’, a day after GRAP-1 rules kicked. The Anand Vihar pollution control monitoring centre recorded and AQI of 414 at 12pm, data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed. For most other areas, the AQI continued to be in the ‘poor’ category since Monday.

On Tuesday, the Commission of Air Quality Management (CAQM) invoked Stage-I of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the National Capital Region. A 27-point action plan as per Stage-I of GRAP was implemented from 8 am today in NCR. Use of anti-smog guns, water sprinkling and dust suppression measures will be intensified as part of the plan.

In other news, The Delhi Police on Sunday arrested two men who allegedly ran a fake call centre of insurance broker firm Policy Bazaar.com near Dwarka Mor Metro Station. 10 young women executives who were allegedly hired by the accused to run the scam were also detained.

Delhi News Live: Anti-dust programme in action as AQI drops down

"We have been running an anti-dust program since October 7 and it is being strictly followed... Work is being done to control old vehicles, along with this, a ban will be imposed on coal shops. There will be a ban on the use of generators, etc. Instructions have been given from today to take action to control the different sources. We are working very actively on this." says Delhi Minister for Environment Gopal Rai.

Delhi News Live: Joint meeting for pollution by not held by Centre yet, says Delhi Environment Minister

"Earlier, every year the Central Government used to hold a joint meeting regarding the problem of pollution but recently this meeting has not been held." said Gopal Rai.

"When the AQI goes above 200, GRAP Stage-I is implemented. It has been implemented in Delhi from yesterday. Under this, mainly measures are taken to reduce dust pollution. We have ordered monitoring of garbage burning. Pollution under control certificates issued to vehicles are being checked." Rai added.

Delhi News Live: Non-transparent system will have to go; Delhi HC pulls up Wikipedia

The Delhi High Court on Monday warned Wikipedia that its “system” of maintaining anonymity of users and administrators making edits and changes to its pages “will have to go”.

Coming down heavily on Wikimedia Foundation (WMF), the division bench of the High Court took strong objection to a page on the platform — ‘Asian News International vs. Wikimedia Foundation’ — while the matter is sub judice before the court and orally remarked that it “will have to be taken down by your client in case he wants to be heard”.

The court cautioned that Wikimedia “may be the world’s powerful entity”, but they “cannot put the single judge in fear or threaten him”.

Delhi News Live: Delhi records highest malaria cases in 5 yrs

With over 100 cases so far this month, Delhi has reported the highest number of malaria incidents in the past five years. The number of dengue cases is also the highest, barring last year’s count.

The Capital has seen 587 malaria cases this year. Of these, 157 cases have been reported in October. In contrast, only 37 cases were reported in October last year, 75 in 2022, 47 in 2021 and 34 in 2020. An additional 152 cases that have been reported with wrong or incomplete addresses.

The West Zone, which has reported 77 cases, has been the worst hit this year.

957 dengue cases were reported this month.

Delhi News Live: Rau’s IAS Study Circle drownings case: CBI files chargesheet against 6

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently filed a chargesheet against 6 people under sections related to criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the case where three civil service aspirants died in the flooded basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle, a coaching centre in Delhi’s old Rajinder Nagar.

CBI filed the chargesheet against Parvinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Tajinder Singh, the co-owners of the building where Rau’s IAS was allegedly running a library in the basement, CEO of the coaching centre Abhishek Gupta, and the centre coordinator Deshpal Singh. All of them are currently on interim bail.

Built after razing 15th-century monument, ex-Delhi Jal Board CEO’s house to be used as training centre, lab

A bungalow allegedly constructed by former Delhi Jal Board (DJB) CEO Udit Prakash Rai after demolishing a 15th-century monument in South East Delhi’s Jal Vihar near Lajpat Nagar will now be converted into a training centre-cum-laboratory to check water quality, officials revealed.

A controversy had broken out over the bungalow in April last year after the Directorate of Vigilance issued a show-cause notice to Rai for allegedly razing the monument — a “Pathan period” Mahal dating back to 1418 when the Sayyid dynasty ruled Delhi – to construct a house for himself.

Delhi News Live: PM Modi inaugurates 8th edition of ITU-WTSA in Delhi, to showcase global telecom innovations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the 8th edition of the International Telecommunication Union - World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, ANI reported.

After the inauguration, he inspected the exhibition at the venue, accompanied by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. This is the first time the ITU-WTSA has been hosted in India and the Asia-Pacific.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the 8th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC), with the theme, "The Future is Now." Prime Minister Modi took to X to announce both events.

Delhi News Live: Air Quality Index at 461 in some parts of Delhi

The Air Quality became severe in some parts of Delhi around Anand Vihar, as the AQI showed on the Central Pollution Control Website 461 at 8 am on Tuesday. It continues to remain 'poor' in the National Capital Region(NCR), third day in a row after crossing the 200 mark on Sunday.
