Mumbai News Live Updates: As Maharashtra poll battle gets heated up, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will launch Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) poll campaign along with other senior Opposition leaders today in Nagpur. After arrival at Deekshabhoomi, where Dr B R Ambedkar converted to Buddhism in 1956, Gandhi has paid homage to the architect of the Constitution. Gandhi is set to visit the electorally crucial Vidarbha region. Later, Gandhi will head to a “Samvidhan Sammelan (Conference on Constitution)” organised by the OBC Yuva Manch, a politically unaffiliated organisation.

Gandhi is also set to visit the electorally crucial Vidarbha region. The region is crucial for the Congress and its allies in the MVA as it will witness almost 36 out of 76 direct contests with the BJP. The saffron party has fielded 47 candidates in Vidarbha.

The MVA’s poll guarantees are likely to be announced during a “Swabhiman Sabha” event in Mumbai. Along with Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, and Nationalist Congress Party (SP) president Sharad Pawar will address the event. The key poll guarantees are likely to be farm loan waiver, caste census and as a counter to the Eknath Shinde government’s Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme, under which Rs 1,500 is deposited in the accounts of women below the poverty line, the alliance is likely to promise a Universal Basic Income scheme.
