A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after an alleged assault in Longford.

Gardaí have launched an investigation following the alleged incident, which occurred in Longford town on Thursday morning.

A man, aged in his 30s, was removed by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital in Dublin to be treated for injuries believed to be serious but non-life threatening.

“Gardaí are investigating an alleged incident of assault in Longford Town this morning, 10 October,” A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror.

“A man, aged in his 30s, was removed by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital in Dublin to be treated for injuries believed to be serious but non-life threatening.”

The Garda spokesperson confirmed that enquiries into the alleged assault are ongoing.
