‘I Am Daughter Of Two Immigrants Parents’ – Cardi B Claps Back At Elon Musk’s ‘Puppet’ Comment
by Ikenna Ngere · Naija NewsAmerican Rapper, Cardi B, has fired back at Tesla CEO, Elon Musk after he labelled her a “puppet” supporting Kamala Harris’ campaign.
Musk, 53, who also owns SpaceX and X (formerly known as Twitter), has been a vocal supporter of Republican candidate Donald Trump since publicly endorsing him in July.
Known for his financial clout, Musk has reportedly contributed $118 million to a political action committee backing Trump.
Musk recently posted a clip of Cardi B’s speech on X, commenting, “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words. The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.”
In a quick rebuttal, Cardi B defended herself, saying, “I’m not a puppet, Elon. I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you… But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle… PS fix my algorithm.”
This heated exchange unfolds as the U.S. presidential election nears, with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris up against Republican Donald Trump on November 5.
Harris, who could become the first Indian American president, may face challenges in securing the same level of support from her community as President Joe Biden did in 2020, according to a Carnegie Endowment for International Peace survey.
In her speech, Cardi B addressed women’s rights, drawing parallels to Harris: “Just like Kamala Harris, I too have been the underdog, I’ve been underestimated, my success belittled and discredited. Let me tell you something: Women have to work ten times harder, perform ten times better, and still people question us, how we got to the top. I can’t stand a bully, but just like Kamala, I always stand up to one.”
