Mrs Tinubu Visits Lagbaja’s Widow

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Wednesday, paid a condolence visit to the widow of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja, Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja.

The First Lady was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, and the wife of the National Security Adviser, Hajia Ribadu. The group was welcomed by Mrs. Oghogho Musa, wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, before meeting with Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, the late general’s widow, and their children.

She encouraged Mrs. Lagbaja to take solace in the fact that nothing happens outside of God’s plan, noting that “only God determines the length of a man’s life.”

Naija News reports Mrs Tinubu, also in a condolence message to the family of the late Chief of Army Staff, prayed to God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

She also described Lagbaja as an example of valour, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to the service of one’s country.

The First Lady, in a post via her X account, wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I received the sad news of the demise of the Chief of Army Staff Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja.

“Throughout his career, the late Chief of Army Staff exemplified valour, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to the service of our dear country.

“I extend my deepest condolences to his wife, Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, children, family, friends, colleagues and associates.

“May Almighty God comfort and grant them the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
