3 arrested at protest outside Surrey Hindu temple
by Charles Brockman · CityNewsMounties say three people were arrested during a protest Sunday outside a Hindu temple in Surrey.
The Surrey RCMP says its officers were called to the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir near Bear Creek Park around 2:30 p.m.
Police claim protestors and counter-protesters clashed outside the Mandir.
“Violence broke out between groups and three persons were arrested. No individuals or police officers were injured. The crowd dispersed within the hour following the arrests,” Mounties said.
The RCMP says all suspects have been released from custody and its officer in charge is meeting with local temple leaders “to address their concerns and ease tensions.”
