B.C. police officer charged with voyeurism after allegedly filming sex acts without consent

A police officer in British Columbia has been charged after allegedly filming sexual acts without his partners’ consent, the Sea to Sky RCMP says.

Three charges of voyeurism have been laid against Michael Philip English, an officer with the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police Service (STPS).

The RCMP says the offences were alleged to have been committed while English was off duty in Pemberton and Vancouver, between 2020 and 2022.

In a news release, the STPS says it became aware of the alleged activities in December 2022.

“Given the nature of the allegations, the STPS employee under investigation was suspended with pay while the matter was investigated,” STPS Chief Officer Debora Doss-Cody said in the release.

“Given that charges have now been laid, this suspension will remain in effect until the Board and I review their current duty status.”

English is set to appear in North Vancouver Provincial Court on Oct. 2.
