New West PD says suspect in custody after two people stabbed near SkyTrain station
by Emma Crawford · CityNewsThe New Westminster Police Department says a suspect is in custody after two people were stabbed Friday evening.
Police say they received multiple 911 calls shortly before 7 p.m. with callers reporting people had been stabbed on Columbia Street outside the SkyTrain station.
When officers arrived, they found one victim with serious but not life-threatening injuries and the other victim with a minor injury.

The suspect was arrested several blocks away.
Sgt. Andrew Leaver says witnesses who had called 911 shared what the suspect looked like.
“Their detailed descriptions helped our officers in finding the suspect and making an arrest,” Leaver said.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the New West PD at 604-525-5411.
