In every state that has counted the majority of its votes, Trump improved on his 2020 performance, according to the New York Times. He has flipped Georgia and Pennsylvania from blue to red and he needed one more state to win, with Wisconsin being the one which led him to victory. That state reported their official results shortly before 11am Irish time.
At 7.30am Irish time, Mr Trump addressed supporters at Trump HQ, West Palm Beach, Florida, the Irish Mirror reports.
"Well, I want to thank you very much - this was a movement like no one saw ever before," said Trump.
"And now it's going to reach a new level of importance. It's going to help our country heal - we are going to fix our country.
He added: “This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again.”
"We overcame obstacles that no one thought possible. It's a political victory that our country has never seen before. I want to thank the American people for being elected the 47th, and 45th, president. I will fight for every citizen. This will truly be the golden age of America that will allow us to make America great again."
“Every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve, and that you deserve.”
