Mumbai: Actor Sayaji Shinde, who has featured in several Bollywood and Tollywood films, joined the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party on Friday (October 11). The actor's move comes ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections slated in November. NCP chief Ajit Pawar welcomed him into the party.

What did Sayaji Shinde say after joining politics?

Actor-turned-politician Shinde said that he has been doing social work for long which is why he came "into the system" and continue doing what he does. He hailed Ajit Pawar and said that the policies of his party are attractive which is why he chose to join his party.

"I have portrayed the role of politicians in films, but I haven't become a politician yet. The social work I do made me think that instead of staying outside, it would be better to come into the system and do some good work. That's why I entered politics. I liked the policies of Ajit Pawar's NCP, which is why I joined them. The Ladli Behna Yojana has provided substantial support to poor women. I have no selfish motives in politics," Sayaji Shinde said.

Party leader Chhagan Bhujbal said that Shinde is not only an excellent actor but has now also become a politician. He will not face any difficulties in politics either, he said.
