Holidaymakers have been warned that they need to be 'very careful' in certain parts of the country as they could be targeted by con artists and scammers

A stark warning for holidaymakers in Turkey has emerged, with a notable TikToker cautioning British tourists to exercise caution, particularly around the Armutalan area of Marmaris. Scott, who shares his experiences of Turkish life via his platform on official_scottylum2, urges travellers to be wary of scams.

In a video that has now been viewed 70,000 times, he frankly advises his viewers: "Try to not bring your bank card out. Me personally, I got scammed for a considerable amount of money. I'm not even going to go into it, but be careful of people looking at you while you type your card number in."

His alarm continues as he underlines the importance of vigilance regarding drinks: "Be very vigilant here. Now, also be very careful of the drinks here. I've made a video about this before. Just be very careful with them."

Moreover, he's urging tourists to scrutinise their fishbowl orders and to keep an eye on their tabs, as some establishments might be charging them for unsolicited extras. With thousands tuning into his tips and experiences, Scott's words carry considerable weight, and British visitors are signing up for BirminghamLive's newsletter to get the latest on breaking stories and travel advice.

One holidaymaker shared their long-term experience: "I've been to Marmaris for years, and it's always been fine for me.", reports Birmingham Live.

Meanwhile, another reflected on their time living in the area: "I lived in Armutalan and was very safe walking home at 2am."

However, some tourists have noticed shifts in the atmosphere. A visitor remarked: "Armutalan is my favourite but, I've just come back, and this year you do need to keep your whits about you. Area is lovely, staffy not pushy at all."

In contrast, another tourist expressed their dislike: "I don't like it in Armutalan."

Reflecting on past visits, a commenter noted: "I went there about 20 years ago, it was so peaceful. It's changed so much."
