Gov. Makinde mourns COAS Taoreed Lagbaja
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineGovernor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed deep sadness over the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, describing it as a significant loss to the country.
The Presidency had earlier on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, announced the death of General Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56, on Tuesday night, in Lagos, after a period of illness.
Makinde, in a message of condolence issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in Ibadan, the state capital, described Lagbaja as “a patriot and one of the finest military officers the country has produced.”
He, therefore, commiserated with the President and Commander-in-Chief, Senator Bola Tinubu, and the Nigerian military.
“My condolences go to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Tinubu, and to the Nigerian Army.

“I also commiserate with the immediate family of the late Chief of Army Staff, as well as the government and people of Osun State on the passing of their illustrious son.
“I pray to Allah to grant his soul eternal rest,” the governor stated.
