Boris Johnson to be joined by controversial star with Trump connection

by · Mail Online

Channel 4 has hired Stormy Daniels and Boris Johnson for the broadcaster's first overnight US election coverage in 32 years.

Adult film star Daniels, 45, was at the centre of Donald Trump's 'hush-money' trial after the pair were claimed to have had an affair.

She will appear as a studio guest on the programme, which airs on November 5, alongside former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Johnson will be joining the coverage from the broadcaster's Washington studio, along with former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

The programme, airing from 10.15pm, will be presented by Emily Maitlis and Krishnan Guru-Murthy. Channel 4 is partnering with CNN for its coverage.

America Decides: US Election Results will also feature the BBC's election stalwart Jeremy Vine, who will front a 'data hub' with 'infographics' and 'the story behind the stats'.

It will be the first time the broadcaster has run overnight US election coverage since 1992 and follows critical plaudits for its UK general election coverage. Channel 4 news presenter Matt Frei will also be involved in the coverage

Daniels was paid $130,000, to stay silent about the affair by Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen.

Trump, 77, was found guilty of falsifying business records, over claims a payment to the adult film star had been hidden.

Who is Stormy Daniels and what is her connection to Donald Trump?

Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is an adult film star who brought a defamation case against Trump in 2018, which was dismissed.

As part of the decision, she must pay him $600,000 in legal costs - a figure she says is 'unfair', given E. Jean Carroll's whopping court victory in a criminal case in New York over him.

'How is it fair that I have better, more compelling evidence than E. Jean Carroll? And I'm glad she won. They continue to hand her money like it's f*****g candy.

'She's up to almost 90 million dollars. Because it was ruled that Donald Trump defamed her by calling her a con job and a whack job and a liar.

'Same three sentences about me. I owe him 600,000 and they're trying to take [my husband] Barrett's house.

'It's so ridiculous and absurd. Like I can't even make it up. The jokes write themselves,' she said in an episode of Daily Mail's podcast, Everything I Know About Me.

Daniels also claimed that Trump continued to call her after the infamous apparent 2006 rendezvous at a Lake Tahoe golf resort.

She even claims he told her he never wanted to become president.

'The story didn't come out because I didn't think that Donald Trump wanted to be president. He had told me multiple times. Valid, you know makes a perfect point.

'Why would you want to be president when you make more money and have more fun doing all the things he's already doing?

'We've all seen the photographs of people, what they look like before a presidency and after. It is not a good look.

'It is a hard job. It ages the f**k out of you. You can't do any of the things you want to do.'

In other episodes, Stormy lifted the lid on the night she claims Trump made a move on her after meeting at the charity golf event.
