A seven-year-old boy is still fighting for his life after being involved in a horror motorway crash that killed five people - including his own mother.

Youngster Arran Martin is currently in a coma with his father waiting by his bedside 'day and night' after being involved in the collision in Cumbria last Tuesday.

Arran’s mother Jade McEnroe, 33, her partner Jaroslaw Rossa, 42, and his two boys aged seven and 15, were killed in the head-on crash between a Skoda and a Toyota just past Tebay services.

The tragedy also claimed the life of a 40-year-old man from Cambridgeshire who was driving the Skoda which was travelling south on the northbound carriageway.

Arran is currently receiving treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle and an online fundraiser has been set up to support his father as he travels between Scotland and England whilst his son is being cared for.

A statement on the GoFundMe page, which has so far raised £3,920, reads: 'This fund is specifically for Arran, who by miracle, is the only survivor of this crash and to help his dad out during this time.

'As Arran bravely fights through his recovery, we want to ensure his dad can remain by his side every day without the added worry of financial pressures.

'People that know Arran know of his love for horror. He loves to scare people with his Chucky doll and horror stories but at the same time he likes to bring Woody and Buzz to his cold water dips just in case any of the adults get into some trouble in the water and he can help save the day with them.

'As of today, Arran remains in a coma although he is doing better. It is early days but we know that this accident will be life-changing for him and Andy and every penny raised along with your thoughts and prayers are met with gratitude. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support at this time.'

Ms McEnroe and her family had been making their way back to Glasgow after a getaway in Legoland, when the horror fireball smash occurred on the M6 at around 4pm.

Arran had been travelling with the family and was airlifted from the wreckage by air ambulance.

Another GoFundMe page was set up by Shelly Keith to help support their grieving family titled: 'The young family who lost their lives in the tragic M6 Crash.'

The page has since surpassed its £5,000 target raising over £8,240 to help their heartbroken family during this difficult time.

Shelly Keith, a friend of the family, confessed she was 'overwhelmed by the generosity' of people.

Ms Keith said she would not comment any further on the tragedy 'out of respect' to Ms McEnroe's family.
