Lucy Beaumont and Jon Richardson announced their decision to divorce in April after nine years of marriage but a resurfaced tale has revealed it may have been doomed from the start.

Speaking on the couple's show Ultimate Worrier in 2018, Lucy, 41, revealed that their honeymoon was a bad omen because the then newlyweds witnessed a gang stabbing while they shared an evening meal.

The format of Ultimate Warrior involved Jon bringing on guests to help analyse his many worries.

Lucy explained in the show that they rented a car and went around America, with Jon looking at the map and deciding to book a hotel in Santa Cruz.

'Then I looked up Santa Cruz and it has the worst homicide rate in the whole of America,' she said.

'Worse than LA, like the most dangerous place to be. I told this to Jon and he said well I've booked it now.

'So we went into this falafel bar and we sat in the window, looking out onto the sea and I did think, "this is starting to get a bit later, things are turning a bit."

'Anyway a gang turned up and one of them got stabbed in the chest, and I looked at Jon he remained emotionless. Like he was looking at two pigeons having a fight and I was in shock.'

'I said "Oh I can't eat this", so Jon ate my falafel as well and I said "Are you not bothered?"'

Lucy suspected Jon's lack of reaction was because he didn't want to admit that he chose a terrible and unsafe location to stay in and downplayed the stabbing.

'All because he didn't want to admit that we're in a dangerous place,' Lucy added.

The pair, who share a daughter and tied the knot in April 2015, announced they were splitting up earlier nine years to the month of their wedding day.

Jon has also handed over £1.625 million to Lucy since they called time on their nine year marriage in April.

The pair starred together in the mockumetary-style show Meet the Richardsons for seven years, and amassed a £6 million fortune.

But documents for a company they had run together reveal that in June, two months after their split, Jon paid Lucy £1.625m for her shares in a company they had co run.

Jon even had to pay HMRC stamp duty of £8,125 after buying out her stake in the business This Guy at Night Limited.

According to recently filed accounts the company was worth £4 million last year and the couple are still listed as joint owners of two properties.

They co-own a £1 million detached home with a pool in Yorkshire and a £1 million flat in a swanky part of North London.

The started dating in 2013 after they met through friend Roisin Conaty and went on to work together on a number of shows including Meet The Richardsons.

In April in a joint statement the couple said: 'After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated.

'We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.'
