After clearance from Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati, the names of party candidates have been announced for all the nine seats for the UP assembly where by-elections are to be held.

On Tuesday, the candidate from Sisamau assembly seat in Kanpur was changed. Thus, the party has changed candidates on two seats so far.

The divisional coordinators have been instructed to ensure that nominations are filed in three to five sets, so that the papers are not rejected as happened in the Lok Sabha elections. The coordinators have been instructed to camp in their respective constituencies till the counting of the assembly by-elections. The BSP supremo has said that there should be no negligence in this regard.

Shivbaran Pasi was earlier given a ticket from Phulpur, but his ticket has been cancelled and given to Jitendra Thakur. Similarly, Ravi Gupta was first given the ticket from Sisamau, but later there was a consensus to give the ticket to his wife. However, on Tuesday Virendra Shukla was given the ticket from Sisamau.

The BSP has given its ticket to Deepu Tiwari from Majhawan, Amit alias Jitendra Verma from Katehari, Rafatullah alias Neta Chhidda from Kundarki, Shah Nazar from Meerapur, PN Garg from Ghaziabad and Avnish Kumar Shakya from Karhal.

On the instructions of Mayawati, the BSP candidates have started filing their nomination papers in three to five sets from Tuesday. The candidates have been told to file the form only after thorough scrutiny, so that there is no mistake.

BSP state president Vishwanath Pal has been given the responsibility of campaigning on all seats. It is also believed that Mayawati’s nephew Akash Anand may also campaign for the by-elections so that better results are achieved.
