NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended a reception hosted by the US President Joe Biden in honor of the heads of government participating in the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Both the prime minister and the US president met during the reception, and expressed good wishes for each other.

The Heads of State of other Countries also attended the dinner.

In a post on his personal X handle, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif wrote “My brief meeting with US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden during the President’s reception in New York was most warm and cordial.”

The prime minister also wrote “We reaffirmed our common desire to enhance cooperation in key areas including trade, investment, technology, & climate action.”

Later, Shahbaz Sharif concluded his five-day visit to New York where he successfully participated in the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.

On the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister also held separate meetings with the Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres, Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the World Bank Ajaypal Singh Banga, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, President of the European Commission Ms. Ursula Von Der Leyen, Founder and Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) Bill Gates, Prime Minister of United Kingdom Sir Keir Starmer, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Chief Advisor (Head of the Government) of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Crown Prince of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Additionally, the prime minister also addressed the delegation of the US-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) besides meeting a delegation of prominent Pakistani American bankers.
