The Northern Lights are likely to be visible in parts of the UK on Monday and Tuesday, experts say. AuroraWatch UK, made up of scientists from Lancaster University, predicts the best chances to see the Northern Lights will be at around midnight on Monday and at around 7pm on Tuesday evening.

A map issued by AuroraWatch UK shows those living across Scotland, particularly the northwest of the country, will be best placed to watch the rare aurora borealis appear between 12am and 1am on Tuesday, the Mirror reports. On Monday AuroraWatch UK's website reads: "Red alert: aurora likely."

In order to see the lights the sky needs to be as clear as possible. Conditions are predicted to be ideal at around midnight, forecasters say.

The further away you can be from artificial lights the better, as light pollution can also make the Northern Lights more difficult to spot. The Met Office says there will be "clear spells" for many on Monday night before rain on Tuesday morning. It'll be wet across Wales later during Tuesday.
