Bedbugs can give the chills - and a nasty bite - to anyone is unfortunate enough to come across them.

These pesky insects are tough to exterminate due to their resistance to pesticides, and they're notoriously difficult to spot, resembling apple seeds and mostly coming out at night to feed on human blood. But beware, you might be unwittingly rolling out the red carpet for them with common slip-ups that could bring them into your home.

If you find yourself with a bedbug infestation, it might seem like a good idea to sleep elsewhere to avoid further bites. However, this could actually spread the creepy crawlies to other parts of your home or even to other properties, which is far from ideal. In case you suspect bedbugs are lurking, Smithereen Pest Management Services advises decluttering the area.

They suggest "cleaning and throwing away unnecessary items" can help "reduce the spaces for bed bugs to hide." Also, they recommend not storing anything under the bed.

By following these tips, you'll give pest control professionals a better shot at banishing these unwelcome guests when they come around. "Place items you wish to discard in a garbage bag, tie it off, and promptly remove it from the home", they advise.

If you're struggling to spot the poll, give this link a click. Pest control gurus at Smithereen have issued a stark warning about second-hand bargains: "While bargains on used goods are tempting, you never know if the original owner had a bed bug problem of their own."

They've also stressed the importance of washing any bedding or clothing affected by bed bugs and then blasting them in the dryer on the "hottest possible setting." And remember, if bed bugs have taken over and you're out of options, professional pest services can swoop in to make your home bug-free again.
