A health coach has touted a fun and relaxing way to ease stress symptoms. With many grappling with anxiety, finding effective ways to mitigate these feelings can be challenging.

Despite the plethora of advice, strategies, and treatment options for those battling stress or mental health issues, there's one thing you may not have tried. One specialist has lauded the impact of hot tubs on reducing cortisol levels. UK staycations are on the rise, evidenced by the 16,000 searches for 'hot tub breaks' in the past month, indicating that Brits are keen to enhance their domestic holidays with a hot tub experience.

A TikTok video from Parkdean Resorts showcasing its hot tub lodge has attracted nearly 30,000 views, sparking excitement among viewers. One eager commenter posted: "Can't wait till I'm at my Parkdean holiday," while others expressed their love for hot tubs with comments like "SO NICE."

In light of this trend, health and fitness coach James Cunningham has explained why vacationers should consider a hot tub break to alleviate stress, alongside other potential health advantages.

The expert explained: "Hot tubs are becoming more and more popular in the UK, with them being a big selling factor for holiday homes and lodges operators. Not only are hot tubs enjoyable when on holiday, but they also provide many benefits that users aren't aware of."

"One of the main benefits of relaxing in a hot tub is its impact on our bodies' stress levels. High levels of stress trigger an increase in cortisol, a hormone that, in excess, can lead to muscle breakdown, fat retention, and even sleep disturbances."

James added: "The warmth of a hot tub, combined with the sensory relaxation it provides, can lower cortisol levels significantly. For individuals, especially those balancing demanding jobs and busy lives, this stress relief can improve overall health and significantly improve mental well-being."

But there's more to it than just stress relief, as hot tub use could also boost cardiovascular health. This happens because the heart has to work slightly harder when you're sitting in a hot tub, much like during mild exercise.

The heat increases your heart rate and dilates blood vessels, which can enhance circulation and heart function over time. For those concerned about ageing or looking to support heart health, hot tubs present a gentle option to keep the cardiovascular system engaged and in good shape.

James, a fitness expert, has highlighted the benefits of hot tubs for those who are regular gym-goers or exercise enthusiasts. He explained: "After workouts and moving around daily, your muscles accumulate microscopic tears, which need time and the right conditions to heal."

He added: "Hot tubs, through heat therapy, help increase blood flow by dilating blood vessels. This improved circulation doesn't just feel good – it actively promotes healing by delivering more oxygen and essential nutrients to the muscles."
