TK Maxx and Homesense issue 'do not eat' food recall warning

TK Maxx and Homesense have issued an urgent food recall for a product sold in their stores due to a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents

The Food Standards Agency has issued a product recall for a snack sold at TK Maxx and Homesense. The alert is due to an undeclared allergen.

Shoppers are being told not to eat the products if they are affected by specific allergies. The Chocolate Chip Oatrageous Chewy Granola Bars and Variety Pack Oatrageous Chewy Granola Bars are being recalled as they contain milk, which is not stated on the label.

Official say this could pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. The affected products include the 10-pack of Oatrageous Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars with a best-before date of May 3, 2025, and the Oatrageous Chewy Granola Bars variety pack containing 6 x S'Mores, 6 x Chocolate Chunk, and 6 x Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, also with a best-before date of May 3 next year.

Customers who have purchased these items are advised not to consume them if they have a milk allergy or intolerance. Instead, they should return them to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.

In such cases, the product might be 'withdrawn' (removed from the shelves) or 'recalled' (customers are requested to return the product), reports Plymouth Live. Foods may need to be withdrawn or recalled if they pose a risk to consumers due to missing or incorrect allergy labelling or any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.
