Sonepur: Three young men carrying the message of ‘Clean and Healthy India’ (Swachha And Sustha Bharat) have reached Sonepur on foot.

The three travellers – Anitesh Sharma of Uttar Pradesh, Amit Paswan of Jharkhand and Saurav Devangan of Chhattisgarh – have set on a mission to walk all over India to spread the message of “Pollution-free, Healthy and Clean Society”.

“Our objective is to drastically cut fossil fuel, reduce pollution and end traffic logjams so that we can remain healthy,’’ said the trio who has travelled 29 states on foot to generate mass awareness.

The three started from Raipur in Chhattisgarh on October 7 and reached Subarnapur on Saturday by covering the distance in 17 days. Several organisations greeted the youths with garlands and bouquets at the municipal auditorium here. The travellers have started their onward journey to Bhubaneswar.

One of the walkers, Amit Paswan said they would walk to Bhubaneswar before proceeding to Kolkata and then Ranchi. “If we can abandon motorcycles to reach short distances upto 200 metre, we can certainly reduce a lot of petrol consumption. We want to set a global record on this mission by going to state capitals across the country walking and generating public awareness,” Paswan added.
